Droid does not flash ClockworkMod recovery

I have a Droid that I am trying to get cloclworkmod recovery on. I'm using ROM manager to flash it on there, but it claims that I got it on there already in which I don't.

When I go into recovery, it shows the plain recovery menu, I tried to reinstall it, said success, but still regular android recovery. Anyone know what's up?

Try an older version of ROM Manager. You could also try alternating between CW and SPRecovery and see if that helps.

Hey, personally I don't like rom manager...you should learn how to flash roms yourself without it. In my opinion its a lot less of a hassle than rom manager (no hate). I just use koush's droidx/droid2 bootstrap which puts you into clockwork (donate version in market, free version online and you install it yourself). if you look around you can find a post by hookbill (i believe) and it will tell you everything you beef to know about flashing a rom. If you don't want to research the manual way of flashing just disregard this ;D but I think its way better and eventually wayy easier

That would be helpful if he weren't using a Droid1

Now all the sudden, it says "An error occured while trying to flash your recovery." no matter what older version I try,

I feel like I'm about to brick my phone, what am I doing wrong?
