About LinkBacksI'm having some trouble attemtping to boot a custom rom.
My original post is here, but i fear i put that in the wrong forum, as its getting no replies.
Essentially, i'm trying to pick a custom rom that i'll be happy with, and i'd rather do that in the emulator before i actaully install one on my phone.
All i'd like to do is boot the custom rom with the emulator, but i'm having no luck in doing so.
I've read a number of posts online about how this can be done, and i've tried all of them, with no luck, i always end up with a hung emulator. It hangs at "Android" which i believe is the pre-boot state.
Any suggestions on how this is accomplished?

03-30-2011 09:27 PMIs there a reason you want to do it on the emulator? didn't even know you could get root on that thing although i never mess with it i've opened it maybe 5 times but i think it would be much easier to just load them to your phone all you need is a nandroid and then it's pretty hard to mess things up

04-12-2011 01:55 AMI would like to know how to do this as well. I am currently working on theming Simply Stunning 5.2 (custom ROM). Part of my project now has me going in and modifying the framework-res xml files and I dont want to keep downloading it to my phone every time I make a small adjustment. I want to test the adustments regularly though, so if I mess something up I am not looking through 20 edits and trying to figure out where I went wrong. It seems the emulator would be perfect for this.
Any ideas how to install SS5.2 on the emulator? I assume the process would also be the same for the themes?
anybody successfully do this? -

04-12-2011 07:10 AMI never found a solution. I ended up backing up my phone, and installing the roms i wanted to try out, reverting to my backup whenever I didnt like one of them.

04-13-2011 12:24 PMYep, that's what I have been doing. A little time consuming... no big deal though. I was just wondering if it could be done right on the computer to speed the process and check the changes I'm making...
