    Root help

hey guys, im trying to root my droid 1 via z4root and nothing is happening like it should. i rooted my droid x with this and is was very simple but for some reason cant get this to work on the d1. i find it in astro manager, install it and open the app, but after i click permanent root and will start to do its thing then say root unsuccessful instead of rebooting like it should. unistalled then reinstalled and now it just gets stuck on the first step "running exploit in order to obtain root access.." for 10 minutes. anyone have any suggestions? this is the z4root1.3.0apk if it matters.

edit: nevermind i figured it out.

Are you running gingerbread (2.3)? If so then z4 will not work, you need to use the Droid 3 One-Click Root Method. Also called Pete's Motorola Root Tool.

I figured it out, I forgot to clean cache and delete files after flash...lol... simple misstep...its my 3rd root but with Global it was a lil tricky I guess...but it worked out thanks. BTW its on 2.2 atm but i wanna get it to the newest, must I re-flash after update or? Otherwise thanks

You will have to root again after the update. But I would not try to take the update unless you haven't messed with any of the system apps. If you have and you try it will likely error out.
