I think it came out a few days ago, go to Settings>About Phone>System Update and see of you have one.
Sent from my DROID RAZR MAXX.
The Android Compatibility Test Suite (CTS) has a specific test to test accessing text copied to the Clipboard:
start --plan CTS -t android.text.cts.ClipboardManagerTest#testAccessTe xt
If that fails on your device, it would indicate that something fundamental has deviated from the way Google expects it to work; if it passes, your app that crashes would be suspect.
But as someone suggested, try the Factory Reset to see if things resume working.

I have just got this exact same problem .. has there been a cure that is not factory reset?
I went to download the compatibility test .. but my S3 has been upgraded to Android 4.04 .. and there is not a version for that.

i am also experiencing this problem, i cant copy from sms or web page etc, whatever am copying from crashes...which means clipboard cant even contain anything......appears theres no other option apart from a factory reset...i think i might just do that..and reinstall all my apps from google play... s3 4.0.4
im am so frustrated with this issue. i was writing something on extensive notes and i wanted to cut the text i had entered and now i cant get it back. honestly this is probably it for me with android phones, i didnt want to make the jump to an apple iphone but im seriously thinking about it now. this galaxy s 3 is great but with every new version of android theres always a set back and you are forced to do a master reset to fix it. which can become a hassle because i cant back up any of my files on my mac unless i use kies (which is horrible btw...) this is crazy, i spent weeks writing down notes and ideas for a project im working on and its all gone because i clicked on cut and i was not able to paste.
