Yes... by using pinch to zoom just like you would on some browsers. Took me some time to figure it out too.

You can also use the volume keys to zoom in and out (doing so will also bring up an on-screen slider for the zoom that you can use if you want to). I think it's much easier than pinching to zoom because it allows you to keep the phone a bit more steady as well as keeping a finger at the shutter.
