Google Play Store Issue

Whenever I get a notification in the notification bar that prompts me to download application updates, I press it and it takes me to the Play Store page. But it never loads. It just stays frozen on an all gray, blank screen.
However, if I exit and go into the Play Store by using the shortcut on the home page, then select My Apps it works.
It would sure be nice if it worked like it's supposed to.
Any ideas?
