SD Card nearly wiped itself- recommend me a recovery program

So, this evening I was trying to send someone a photo from my phone's external SD card and I got an error message: "you can't attach this picture to your message."

I unmounted and re-mounted the SD card, no luck.

I plugged the phone into the computer, and the SD card contained no data (despite 1gb of its space being used). The phone now will not recognize the SD card.

How can I get the photos off the corrupted SD card?

    For reference -
    Sandisk MicroSD HC 16gb
    Verizon S3
    AOKP JB Milestone 1.
