terrible battery life

First day having horrendous battery life with the phone. Was off the charger for just over 6 hours and was down to 30% battery, and screen-on time was only about 47 min AND data was turned off almost the entire time. My screen has been at 0% also. Did a meter training already. If this continues, this phone is being sold on Craigslist.

Wow.. I would think with the s4 chip. That thing would get awesome battery life.. this maxx HD does...

That's crazy. Give it a few days and see if it "settles" in. My data is always on, screen brightness at 70%, sync on, LTE always on and I get 2.5-3 hrs screen on time. Are you in a fringe signal area?

I thought it was a strong area. But I still have it set to 3G as well. I currently have one bar of phone signal and am on wifi because data went to 1x. My house is a dead zone for phone signal though, I've always known that. But I've had the phone almost a week and this is the worst I've seen it. I'm already down 11% in about 30 minutes time of catching up on the forum.

If you are in an area with spotty signal your battery life will be going ridiculously fast. Can you post a screenshot of your battery graph??

Nah, this seems to be a random issue with the S3. If you check your usage, I can almost guarantee Android System will be at the top. I would suggest googling "Galaxy S3 terrible battery life" and looking at some of those results. There are a few potential causes, but most of them can be fixed. Usually something in the background is constantly using the CPU, not necessarily an app either. It will probably come up with that but also look into gsiff_daemon if it doesn't.

Unfortunately that's not the same thing. That just fixes how the phone reads the battery, not actually helping battery life. This is a cell standby issue. Android System is the major issue.


I'll just say it again. It's your phone. Not an app. Use Google to fix it. There are 50 identical threads to this, all with different solutions and situations. It would be easier to look for those than wait for a whole new thread to build up with the exact same answers...starting with what Krazyace said.

So you're telling me to Google s3 bad battery life and see what comes up? How helpful you are!
