GPS location active icon won't go away

on the status bar next to my 4G icon...The symbol for gps location active will not go away! I've checked everything possible to make sure gps is off and I can't figure out what app or what is keeping this on! how do I know what app is using gps?

If it's next to your 4G icon, that just means that you have GPS turned on (and there's no way to get rid of that if you're running the stock ROM without root). When the GPS is active, you'll see a pulsing crosshairs icon on the far left side of your notification bar away from all of the others. If you don't see that on the left side of your notification bar, there are no apps using your GPS.
