Is it possible to make home button touch activated

Title says it all. I am wondering if there is any way to make the home button a touch sensitive button instead. This button really kills the experience. I miss the all touch like the Rezound had. I understand they are trying to clone the iPhone, but i thought ICS was going to move away from anything not touch sensitive. Anyways, if anyone has any idea if this is possible, i would appriciate any info. I expect that I would have to Root, but is the phone even capable of being changed this way.

My guess is no, as it is a physical button. Probably no touch sensors built in.

I would assume it's by design, to prevent accidentally exiting an app to the home screen (which is all too easy to do with capacitive buttons). Not to be rude, but is it REALLY that big of a deal to hit a physical button once in awhile?

Personally, I think having a physical button sort of mars the look of the phone. And it looks too much like Samsung is copying Apple's home button. Not good.

Changing the mechanical button for a capacitive one would be the only thing I would change on this phone.

I actually really like the mix of the two. The Home button is just that, a dedicated home button that can also redirect to S-Voice. Prevents any accidental home taps, especially while holding the phone sideways. As someone with big hands, this was always an issue on both my Bionic and Rezound.

However it would be cool to be able to assign another action to a touch function and still have the physical part go to the homescreen. But that would still probably cause accidental taps.

I was just thinking the same thing!!

The ONLY thing I don't like about the S3 is that you have to physically push the button - it kind of ruins the experience. With my Maxx I'd just slide my finger over the button - with the S3 sometimes I have to physically re-adjust how I'm holding the phone so I can get enough pressure to press the button.

Obviously this is a very MINOR issue, and splitting hairs, but still kind of annoying.

This would def be nice to be able to do... or at least to reassign the buttons as someone else has already said
