From what i can gather it was May of '06 when the FCC said no more high powered FM transmitters and forced Satellite radio manufactures to comply as well. Low powered devices will only work within a few feet. I would look for something made prior to that, if you can find it. Or plan on taping your transmitter right next to your radio antenna.

Blue tooth is the best... and the easiest. I have the pioneer AVH-P8400BH dvd player head unit and not only does the blue tooth telephone automatically connect up... but so does the bluetooth audio. It's real fast with no fuss and no cables! The down side... it does cost a few bucks.

You could check the websites for pac, blitzsafe, and soundgate. They make aux and ipod adapters for factory car stereos. Not sure if they make anything for the aztek or not since that car wasn't a big seller. Can't hurt to check though.

I've had VERY good success with this hardwired FM transmitter. It's pricey, but for the price you get very crisp sounding audio without that metallic sounding treble that seems to happen with the cheaper units. Well worth the money imo.
If you can't build it you shouldn't be using it.

Yes the hardwired fm modulators that can be installed to play through your factory radio tuner are very good. It is those cheap fm transmitters that plug into the cigarette lighter are a total waste of money. Don't buy one of those. But you can get an fm modulator from any car stereo shop. They work well. Something like this should do it.

Another thing we need to know to figure out which adapter will work with your car is actually which factory radio you have in the car. Is it a single disc cd player, is it a 6 disc player. Does it have an aux button, or have cd changer controls on it? Even better would be if there is a model number on the front of it. If you can't really tell which it is post a clear picture of it here radio. Then I can help you figure which adapter you need. I managed a car stereo shop for 14 years.
