Best Rom for battery life

Hi everyone. I just got my nexus last week and loving it so far. Rooted and flashed AOKP buld 31 rom yesterday. I was wondering what rom would be best for battery life? I purchased the extended battery but still not getting great battery life yet. I unplugged at 8am today and currently have 16% battery left. I would appreciate any thoughts!!

a kernel will give you better battery life...i personally get great battery life running the franco 121 nightly kernel

No, not just underclocking involved with a kernel. A kernel can do tons of things to increase battery life, actually some don't even allow for underclocking at all. New governors, removal of rarely used/unnecessary features, updates to new code, undervolting, among many other tweaks.
