ROM manager isn't required at all. I admit I used to use it but for me it was more like training wheels. Yeah it helped me get started in ROMing but eventually I got rid of it and flashed them through recovery. Also, many have mentioned having troubles with ROM manager which is why I opt to do everything manually. Takes a few more steps but overall the results are the same and you can always trace back your steps instead of trying to figure out what went wrong with ROM manager

nope to root you dont need to buy anything but there are a few apps that are recommended. But over all wugs bootload unlocker/root kit is free and rom manager is also free so you can do almost everything free. I have paid for titanium, clockwork mod and a few upgraded launchers but the most part I flash for free

Titanium is an app I highly recommend. It'll save you a ton of time getting your apps back to the way you like it if you constantly are switching ROMs.

ya know after getting the razr max which i wasnt totally crzy about its almost like you dont realize how good u got it until its gone, ...lol thats how i feel about the nexus , its a real nice sleek, and smooth operating phone and now with jb coming out at some point i feel it will just get better, and then eventually root this bad boy !

the fact that the video is longer than 30 seconds tells me it takes the long way. Wugs is literally a 30 sec unlock/root. Plug in phone click the icon and bam youre done

Yep, easy as pie! Also HTC doesn't post all of the source code like Google does. So if for some crazy reason you had a problem, you can return your phone to out of the box new and start over!
