I'm at tier2 with the same problem. Was on the phone yesterday and nothing they tried worked. It was bumped to a supervisor and am waiting for a call back. This is a replacement phone, my third. Did not have a 4G problem with the other 2. I'm waiting for reviews of the new Motorola maxx hd phones. Specs and size look good.

This was a flagship/premium device that is a disappointment. I told him that I can't even use LTE and he basically agreed with me. Battery pu, SIm reseating have both been done. This just constantly drops signals.

Any other phones that have been problematic (BB storm and Tour) they sent out CLNR's without so much as a question. Them opening a service ticket and mentioning the inconvenience was odd.
This was positioned as a flagship device, but never supported as such. Therefore it has never been a true flagship device.

If you are desperate to make this phone work then I highly recommend you flash the new JB radios. That's pretty much your last chance with this device, at least this specific Nexus. Unfortunately you do need a custom recovery.

My point is that I shouldn't have to mod or swap radios for it to hold a 4G data connection.

I gave it plenty of time and waited patiently for 4.0.4 which didn't help anything.

The rep even said his personal Nexus suffered the same issues and he was able to get rid of it.

Maybe they'll offer a different device. At this point, like I said, I'd even take an iPhone4S even with the 5 due out in a couple weeks.

AND especially now, I don't want to mod anything should they swap this out for something else.

I completely agree that it shouldn't have to be modded, but you have to remember, Samsung is known for their weak radios AND that the Nexus is the first phone to launch with JB, there were bound to be bugs. Plus Verizon had botched this phone since before release so the dev community was turned to more than ever. So yes, this is pretty much a hardware issue overall, but again, look at the name behind the hardware. Also the fact that this phone was practically made for devs meant Google was relying on the dev community to make this device even better, which they most certainly did.

You can always go back to 100% factory stock. Very simple, especially with software such as Wug's Toolkit. I think you can even temporarily flash CWM with it and flash those radios if you want. If it doesn't help, you can always go back to the stock radios.

Taking the next step to flash better radios and a very stable JB system is easy to do. The dev's have even provided ways to get back to OEM stock condition. Probably one the primary reasons the Nexus is here is because of the modding opportunities; not keeping it stock. There are other phones that can accommodate your needs; the other two phones mentioned in this thread are good alternatives. Why anyone would want an outdated 3G Apple phone goes contrary to the Android experience.

If data is your most important concern I would request a change to a RAZR MAXX or iPhone 4s. They are both quite excellent.

To me the Nexus hasn't been a let down at all. I went in knowing that Samsung didn't have the greatest radios. But now with the JellyBean radio....holy smokes night and day difference. I love the ability to customize that why I went with the phone. Seem you bought the Nexus based on hype and didn't do the research on the Brand. Fascinate had weak radios I figured this would as well.

You wanna talk about a weak flagship?....one word....Bionic.

Hey now easy on the Bionic brother. I had one for a while; solid phone as well. even though it has been referred to as the redheaded step child The Bionic got a big kick in the **ts when the Razr got released 2 months later.
