Is the Nexus worth a 2 year contract?

Can anyone give me a good reason to just hold out for the quad core phones arriving at some point this year? I have about 5 days left on my 14 day trial and Im loving this phone more and more every day. I have a pretty good rom on it right now and its buttery smooth and very fast. So do you guys think that the devs will support this phone as long as the Droid 1 was supported. That is the one thing that will put this phone over the top even with all those very powerful phones coming.

So much for my thinking I was going to just try this phone out and return it after about 10 days. (Why did Verizon have to get rid of the 1 year contracts)

Are you prepared to wait 6 months? If not, keep the Nexus.

edit: What poolshark said. Until stuff like Ubuntu on Android becomes really viable, there's going to be a limit on how much computing power you'll be able to utilize (aside from games).

I really think having a quad core phone is not just overkill but will be overrated.

I agree, quad core on tablets is nice but who uses their phone as a hardcore gaming device?

Back on topic, The reason why I went with the nexus is the direct Google support and especially the Dev support.

I agree.I havnt seen anything at MWC,that made me wish I would've waited for something they showed.Out of all that was shown, and I think everybody will agree, the SG3,is gonna be a really nice phone, even better if its on VZW.But as we all know, the support for the SG3,will in know way shape or form, compete with the Google Nexus. So arty,IMO,keep your Nexus, and enjoy Jellybean when it drops. We're here, ooh!,Great Nexus,to do thy bidding!!!

ICS is optimized for dualcore. The Nexus will have support straight from Google (if Verizon doesn't get in the way) and most importantly from our developer community. This phone has strong support from the developer community and it will only get better from now imo.

As poolshark said I personally think quadcore is overkill. The software is optimized for dualcore so what good would 2 extra cores really do? It may be a bit faster, but that's all I see in benefits of quadcore. If you don't need the latest and greatest, the Nexus will last for quite some time, well after the 2yrs imo.

However if you think quadcore is worth waiting for then by all means wait. What I can tell you right now though is the Nexus is one of the best phones out in the entire mobile market, not just on verizon's network.

Dezy hit it on the head. This phone is phenomenal (could always be better), and I haven't seen anything to indicate that I might be envious in the next 6 months. Quad core will be cool, but until the OS and apps catch up, it won't be a noticeable improvement over this device.
