So on my old D2G this app wasted battery because of bloatware my question is now that we are bloat free does this app do anything?

its still pointless. let the OS free up memory when it needs to.

It doesn't waste battery because of bloatware, it wastes battery because it works against the Android OS and tries to thwart it's core functionality
Some claim a task killer helps their battery life, I always found it to mess up my phone when I did try it when I first got my OG Droid. The consensus is, don't use them and with good reason: Android handles the memory itself.
There is an option in the developer mode to kill task when you exit the app. Give that a try maybe?
