1. Remove or hide the Google search bar on the Home page?
2. How do I create a folder on the home page?

You can hide the Google search bar but the real-estate will not be used on the stock launcher. For that you will need a 3rd party launcher such as Nova or a hack to modify the stock launcher.

Yikes - sounds like a loose-loose for me.
So,then I really don't have 4.65" screen!?

I tried searching for Nova in the Market Place - no luck. can you provide more info so I can find it?

Also- one other tweak I'd like to do: when in the Apps folder/menu- is there a way to scroll up & down - versus left & right?

Wow, triple negative, which would mean you did know. I think.

I switched to Go Launcher Ex in the market. It's free and gives lots of customizations, and gets rid of the stupid search bar. And lets you use the real estate. Working well for me.

Forgot about Go Launcher Ex & I use the Go Contacts!.

Curious- will Go Launcher EX, Nexus or other 3rd party launchers slow down the phone itself ?

You have the full 4.65", it's just not always user customizable. The function buttons take up real estate too. Games and movies make use of the full 4.65" though. (and some apps)

Nova currently scrolls like stock ICS launcher

Talk about not having 4.65 inches, how about the entire bottom part of the 'screen' is being taken up by the back button, home, menu/screen buttons!

They only go away if you're trying to watch a full screen video, iirc. There may be other times they will go away, but for the most part, they're taking up screen space!
