I bought my phone on launch day and I checked to see how to tell if bootloader was unlocked and out the box it is. Is there anybody else that has seen this?

My first smartphone was a Droid 1. Then I found the Nexus... Galaxy Nexus LTE unlocked & rooted...
AOKP JB build ROM, IMO JB exp Kernel,
Root Apps - Titanium Backup, Root Explorer, SetCPU, ROM Toolbox, Rom Mangler/ClockworkMod, CWMR Touch, Lightflow, SD Maid, Nova Launcher
Mine wasn't. But that doesn't bother me, since I'm not planning on rooting it in the foreseeable future. Stock ICS is fine for me.
Galaxy Nexus - Verizon
4.0.2, stock
That's very strange. The bootloader should not be unlocked out of the box. They've essentially sold you a device without a warranty. I'd take it back asap to cover yourself.

How can you tell your boot loader is unlocked? I bought mine about a week ago, and when the cashier at Verizon powered it up when he opened it I noticed the lock on the boot up was unlocked. I just figured that was normal for the Nexus. Now after reading about how to unlock and root this thing I'm starting to wonder if its already unlocked? Should I return for a new one? When I boot up into the boot loader screen at the bottom it says bootloader unlocked in red. After watching a Droid-Life video on how to unlock it looks as though that means I'm unlocked but my Nexus never did a factory reset when I tryed to unlock using easy root instructions from Galaxy Nexus forum. Question is should I move to the next step a root or return this one for a new one before I move forward? Thanks for any help?!
