Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring Extended Edition (Bluray Part1 + Part2)
I got the Bluray Box Set of Lord of the Rings for Christmas last year, but unfortunately didn't get to it until now.
If you want to convert this movie yourself , make sure you have a look at the Bluray Guide for DVD Catalyst 4:
http://www.tools4movies.com/2011/08/dvd-catalyst-4-1-bluray-guide/
(I am using AnyDVD HD for Bluray, which enables me to convert directly from Bluray)
Unfortunately, the Lord of the Rings Extended Edition set has all the movies on 2 discs each. For now, I'll show you the conversion on a per-disc basis.
Start DVD Catalyst 4 (I used v4.1.4.1) using the shortcut on your desktop:
For the conversion I used the Blackberry Playbook HQXT 720p profile. The 720p screen resolution is a bit overkill for if you just want to watch the movie on your Playbook, but since I tend to grab whatever device I have on hand, this gives me some extra freedom, and the movie will look amazing, even on my larger Xoom.
Now insert the first Bluray of the LOTR Boxset into your Bluray drive. AnyDVD HD will do its scan, and after that, DVD Catalyst 4 will do its own scan as well.
With the Lord of the Rings Boxset, the special features are on their own discs, so only the movie (well, part 1) appears after scanning.
Before I started the conversion, I did enable CRF, in order to get the best possible quality.
Enable "Power User", then go into Global Settings, and enable CRF in the "Tweaks" tab. I adjusted it to 22.
after that, I simply tapped the Go button to start a conversion.
After the conversion was complete, I ended up with a video file of 2.1GB in size.
Then I did the same with the second disc of Fellowship of the Ring.
Scanning was the same, no complications.
Conversion worked fine as well, and when it was done, the second file I got ended up 2.3GB in size.
