Researched for a couple days on rooting my X2 and ended up using Pete's one click which deleted the user directory. Did a factory reset, however, it did not restore the directory. Any advice on how I can restore this?
Thanks

you need to SBF, factory reset only deletes user data
never had that problem, with pete's, or even heard that happening
use [TOOL] ezSBF DX2 plus zerg root tool
edit: 2.3.5 update (412 build) http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1391824
1 SBF, with ezSBF disk
2 update, if you want
download from link move to root dir of sd card should be named update.zip
3 root with zerg from ezSBF disk

[ROOT] Framaroot, a one-click .apk to root
I have verified it works with these Motorola devices running android 2.3.4
Droid 2 (a955), Droid 2 Global (a956), R2D2 (a957), & Droid X (MB810)

I got the triangle with exclamation point and android guy when selecting recovery mode from boot....
yes, recovery is for wiping cache/data and update.zip
press both volume buttons to continue
to SBF you needto be in RSD protocol support, press volume up while powering phone on
it will just say "Starting RSD protocol support" thats it
start RSD Lite or ezSBF
edit: I haven't found a way out of RSD support, when not flashing SBF, have to pull battery
if flashing SBF phone reboots when done

phone needs to be in RSD protocol support the flash SBF
what file where you using, what system version is your phone on ie 1.3.412
edit: you were still trying to install update 1.3.412 right?
you need to SBF first, if you did, you may need to redownload 1.3.412 or compare md5 checksum

System version is 1.3.380.
Think I have to use 2.3.4 SBF before updating to 2.3.5 since X2 is stuck somewhere between root and stock. Even though I don't have SU permissions it still uses my custom boot screen leftover from rooting before doing factory reset.
yes, factory reset may not, remove custom boot
but SBF should, I would SBF again, wiping data before and after from Android Recovery
did you use RSD Lite or ezSBF

Tried ezSBF but it won't boot from USB. Not exactly clear on how RSD lite works.
edited from droid wiki SBF - The DROID Wiki
- Charge the battery. This is important: you don't want the phone die during the flashing process, as there is no way to charge the phone using the supplied charger once you can't boot into the OS.
- Start RSDLite. Choose the image by pressing the button labelled “…” next to the Filename box. Once the image is loaded (which takes a few seconds and the program stops responding to user for that short while), the File Properties will display information related to the image file you loaded.
- Boot the phone into RSD protocol support
- Connect the phone to your PC. It should appear in RSDLite window's bottom section. There will be no information displayed about the model and IMEI/MEID of the device.
- Press Start in RSDLite. The flashing process will begin.
