    Gmail not receiving new messages

I tried to avoid posting this, however after searching I have been unable to find what I'm looking for.

Since yesterday morning the gmail on my Droid X hasn't pushed any new messages through. There are no error messages, it just looks as if it's constantly trying to sync.

When I go into the account settings I see that the others (calendar and contacts) are syncing regularly.

How do I fix this? Should I remove it and put it back on my phone? Why does this happen?

Thank you so much for hopefully helping me! It's aggravating to have to go to the wed on my phone to check my email.

    Don't use a task killer.

I would say that you should make sure sync is on, but it looks like you already have.

Go to phone settings > applications > manage applications > menu > filter > all > Gmail storage > clear data > ignore overly scary dialog box > OK

That should clear it up and resync w/ google's servers

Thanks for your help, so far so good! I uninstalled the task killer, question though, I hear mixed reviews on having it and not having it. So it's better not to have it? How do all the open programs affect my phone?

update: I read your link...I understand Task Killers more now!

    Thanks again!

Cool. Yeah, the idea is that Android will automatically free up resources as needed. Apps that are sitting idly in memory really aren't using battery/CPU. So, as long as you don't run some greedy, poorly designed app, you shouldn't need to kill tasks.

If an app has an Exit/Quit/Close button, go ahead and use it. Usually, you don't even have to bother, though. The one exception for me seems to be Navigation...I always push the Exit button in it's menu. When done with Maps, I just return to the home screen. GPS shuts off and the app goes to sleep. If you need Maps again, it wakes up quickly. Killing tasks would make Maps take a long time to open. Killing tasks leads to the operating system having to do more work. Killing tasks can also lead to problems--like not getting email.
