Battery problems

DroidX running Miui, latest version and all. My battery is being drained in the background by the media process. Not sure what I need to kill/freeze/tweak/uninstall to make this better.
Also, my battery has been dropping in jumps. It did this on my last 2 roms, but is much worse now. When it hits around 89%, it immediately falls to 49%, then again at 45% to 20%. I've wiped the battery stats when fully charged, 3 times now to try to fix this, but it's not helping.

I know you said you wiped the battery stats. Now try to calibrate it and see if that helps you.
