Have to remove battery after locking screen?

Just picked up a DROID X yesterday and tried locking it this morning. the buttons at the bottom lite up but the screen stays blacked out. i have had to remove the battery and power on the device to get it to work. i havnt done anything to it except put in a new sd card and tried transferring music using vcast. music worked yesterday but now it just shows that there is data on the card but nothing shows in the music player. not sure if these two things are related in any way but help would greatly be appreciated. thanks
