    Random reboots?

I have a friend who just bought a Droid X from Amazon Wireless. He rooted it and then applied the update and rerooted. Using Z4 root. He has alot of apps installed. (I'm getting a list from him now)

Any idea what could cause this? He says it reboots by it's self up to 7 times a day. I've never had this issue with my Droid X so I have no real idea.

Is he running a custom ROM?
(Some custom ROMS do have bugs, and may be the result of him installing the wrong version etc.)

    Overclocked?
(JRummy's overclock has been known on a few devices to cause some problems with the kernel and making SOME phones unstable, but it could also be the settings he set his overclock to.)

    Custom Boot Logo?
(Custom boot logo's have been reported to cause boot loops and or random reboots. I've personally never had the problem, but it HAS happened.)

Does he run a Task Killer?
(Android 2.0 + has a BUILT IN task killer, and he should refrain from using one! Same goes for Anti Virus software from the Market!)

Has he tried wiping Cache/Data Factory Reset?
(Sometimes all it takes is a fresh start, and may clear up some issues in his phone/sd card. Make sure he does it from CLOCKWORK RECOVERY!!)

Last but not least, reinstalling the update/SBFing the SYSTEM ONLY SBF from TBH?
(Will reinstate the phone to an "Out of the Box" state.)

EDIT - All these questions can be turned into a solution to his problem, just a matter of going down the list! (If non of these work then he may have a defective device.)

    No. Running stock

    Overclocked?

No. He does have Set CPU. But is underclocked.

    No

    No anti-Virus or task killers

    No.

Would if he could but there is no SBF (that I know of) for the .340 update

I have 928 black glass theme installed. I use to get random due to the slide lock at least 2 times a day. Installed No Lock from market and don't have that problem any more.

I agree with all suggested above except the boot logo. Never seen reboots from a boot logo and I've had many of them. Doesn't mean it can't happen.

Tap'n from DX while sit'n by a PC.

I'm not sure. If I had access to the phone I could check it out. But I don't. I'm not sure the cause. He has alot of games installed.

I would tell him to do a Data/Cache wipe within CWM, and try that out.

And there is one available, its a System ONLY Sbf, not the FULL Sbf.

He said he removed a few apps and it stopped rebooting randomly. Can you elaborate on the System only vs Full?

System ONLY - Is the full .340 system, Apps, settings etc..

Full SBF - System files, Kernel Upgrade, Baseband Upgrade, and Bootloader Upgrade. Takes your full up to a fully updated 3.2.340 Droid X and not just the system.

Can this update be flashed if one wants to restore their rooted, debloated phone to stock?

I froze a few things since the 340 update but not tried to get back in on bgx yet...

My dx did a slide lock reboot today. Just once do far....but I'm now skeptical cause if the slider lock reboot issue with bgx.
