Droid X rom benchmark and comparison

First I want to say hello to all. This is my first post. I want to thank all of the devs for their amazing roms and the users who give them feedback.

I wish to pay back the community with a project to compare as many roms as possible in completely stock and in average usage senarios. For the first condition I will SBF my phone back to Froyo and install all of the mainstream Froyo roms with data and cache wipes in between. I will then log into my google account and only install a list of predefined benchmarks. From there they will each be ran 3 times at the rom and benchmarks default settings. For the second condition I will install a group of predetermined, popular, and most importantly, free apps. Once installed and running, I will run the same benchmark suite. I will also post some impressions and any issues I encounter.

After that I will do the same with GB roms!

Any suggestions for benchmarks and apps to install would be great. As well as any suggestions and possible shortcuts with the test procedeure.

Wow... That's dedication. I use Quadrant. CM7 is amazing... I get great scores.
My question is, what is the goal of this test? It seems like a lot of work for not much return. I think a lot of people have moved on from the DX...

Mostly because of boredom. I currently am underemployed and I can only fill out so many applications before it becomes tedious and I need a break. I know that there isn't much going on anymore with the Droid X but that is the phone I and many users are still stuck with. As soon as my contract is up or new hardware falls from the sky, I would love to do this comparison again.

I installed today the MIUI rom 1.10.21... and got a quadrant score over 2300... I noticed that some of the GPU benchmarks went up by quite a bit, and it seems to run at stock speeds, but not sure what kernel... went straight from rooted .605 to 1.10.21 MIUI...

Also, the Nenamark went up a bit as well for that matter... from about 23FPS to 27FPS.

Does anybody know where a list of current roms that are out for the Droid X? I know all of the GB ones are getting all of the attention, but for sake of completeness I would love to find all of the current Froyo builds out there too.

Unfortunately I am not aware of a list of ROMs. And do you mean actual 2.2.x builds or just ROMs that you can flash while on .340?

Actually I am going to start with the GB roms. Tonight I am starting Liberty 3 2.0 and the latest Revnumbers CM4DX.

Subscribed, can't wait to see all of the Gingerbread scores. I would personally start there as they are the most used.

Happy to see that Liberty3 2.0 is the first up, that's the one I picked this weekend because the instructions were the simplest I found

Sorry guys. Got distracted with the new MIUI ICS build 1.11.19! Anyways since that is the rom I installed first I will give a quick rundown about the rom and the benchmarks.

First up this rom is a 2nd-init Gingerbread rom running on .602. It is not a complete port of Ice Cream Sandwich but has portions of the Gingerbread framework replaced with ICS framework. Most of the ICS is under the hood and it seems like the rom is mostly the usual MIUI. All the UI interactions are fast and smooth. I did have a few occasional force closes, but reopening the app always seems to work. The wifi wants to turn itself on automatically if you shut it off. In order to get it to stay off I had to forget all the networks. Clockwork Recovery is also odd to get into. You have to push the down volume rocker when the phone is starting up. This will bring you to a menu that lists a few options. Select the "recovery" and push the POWER button to select it. Then select "latest recovery". Battery life seems very reasonable when using the "Deep Sleep Fix", especially for a 2nd-init rom. There is some controversy with this rom between two of the developers. Seems like one dev used anothers work to make this rom, then asked for donations to further develop. Currently the first dev, DXC, has decided not to release new builds. The second dev, aceoyame, has decided to start over without DXC's work. This may mean that updates won't be happening in the immediate future

    Benchmarks

    Quadrant: 2382
    NeoCore: 41
    NenaMark1: 24.54
    NenaMark2: did not run
    Vellamo: 672
    Linpack: 17.0096
Passmark (Beta): 1000 System, 1377 CPU, 6884 Disk, 1055 Memory, 686 2D, 459 3D (EDIT: Seems like this benchmark isn't working correctly for my SD card. All I have is a class 4 card and it says I have an 84mbps read rate. I will rerun this benchmark as soon as I have this rom installed again.)

No issues with any test except that NenaMark2 refused to run, and Passmark sucks so far since it crashes more than it runs.
