Dialer is only in portrait mode?

Is that an AOSP feature? I use a car dock with my X, which holds the phone landscape, and making calls in my car with the dialer sideways is kinda weak. Any suggested workarounds? Maybe I should restore the Blur dialer?

I use Go Dialer.
You won't get blur dialer installed and functional. Too much intertwined with the blur framework.

Had this same issue and just downloaded Go Contacts due to the recommendations in this thread. Thanks for the advice! It looks great and the dialer is vastly improved in portrait mode. Thanks again.

Incoming calls still default to portrait mode when car docked. Between this issue and several others, I have found that Apex is just too buggy and lacking features for my taste. I'm SBF'ing right now so I can restore stock 596.
