What are the advantages of unlocking the bootloader? My DX is rooted, rom'd and overclocked.... All of which my OG Droid was and it did not have a locked bootloader.

What are the advantages of unlocking the bootloader? My DX is rooted, rom'd and overclocked.... All of which my OG Droid was and it did not have a locked bootloader.
An unlocked bootloader allows the flashing of a kernel other than stock.

This will be even more handy when the X reaches end of life (sooner then we'd all like) and moto decides its not worth it to update any longer.
Ahhhh... Thanks for the info. I thought the kernel only affected over/underclocking and over/undervolting because that is what I would update on the OG droid for those.
