I am trying to do my first ROM exchange. I installed the FREE version of the Clockwork Mod Recovery program and followed the instructions to Reboot into Recovery. The first couple of times I did that I got a screen that suggested wiping the data/factory reset/ which I did. Then I selected the file for the new JRummy ROM from the SD Card and then said OK to the question about "are you really wanting to do this" and waited....Yes, I forgot the step of pressing the power button twice, and then it eventually rebooted back in the stock ROM after a funny set of ICONS that flashed briefly on the screen of a box with an arrow coming out of it (simulating unpacking a zip file, I imagine?) and a bar ICON at the bottom the showed about 30% progress until the next ICON (an error indicator, I suppose) that looked like a Yield sign with an exclamation point on it. Since it flashed so briefly I preformed the same set of steps several times...still forgetting the power button double click..while I tried to see the very brief ICONs that were being flashed.
This failed for the obvious reason, I forgot one step. But I did finally see enough of the ICONS to record them.
But, still oblivious to the error I was making I tried to install the Ultimate Droid ROM, with the same results.
Then I discovered my error. But by then the software was no longer working properly and was skipping the step that allowed me to select the zip file on the SD Card and was just skipping merrily across to the flashing ICONS and eventually rebooting in the old ROM.
At this point feeling that the Recovery program had been corrupted I un-installed the whole shooting match...except for the two ZIP packages for the two ROMS and then re-installed it...still it skipped the selection portion of the sequence and it still does that after two more attempts to un install the program and re install it.
So I never got to try it with the missing step inserted.
So I have just un installed the Clockwork Mod Recovery program for the 5th time and am just happy that the original ROM is still working and no damage done.
I guess I am better off than some,l but I think I am through trying to get another ROM since I still havent any idea why I want one anyway..
