About LinkBacksI'm looking to get a wifi hotspot going on my DX - do you need root to accomplish this?
I know this has likely been gone over a zillion times, I did searches but couldn't find this answer.

09-15-2011 05:34 PMWifi tethering and Wifi hotspot are 2 different things. You need to be rooted for free wifi tethering but you don't need to be rooted to pay Verizon for hotspot!

09-15-2011 07:35 PMYou could get pda net. You don't need root to use this. There is a trial version for two weeks and then a one time fee to upgrade.

09-15-2011 07:55 PMBest to root. Then you can have control over your phone. I am running cm7, and it is twice as responsive as stock was for me. Just my opinion.

09-15-2011 08:26 PMNo you don't need to root to get free hotspot/tethering. Go over to the droid3 forums and look for the wireless tether hack. This hack works for multiple motorola devices. Yours' included.
