    Root nerves

So... been doing lots of reading about rooting. Can anyone answer if the Verizon warranty will be compromised or if vz insurance will be voided? Also looking for a glossary of some sort to define rooting terms such as bootloop etc... I assume its getting stuck on the boot up screen but I like learning these things! And I really want to learn about rooting before bricking this thing.
Thanks for helping out a semi-noobie!!

as far as i understand, rooting voids your warranty. the good thing is, you can unroot a phone as easily as you can root it. as long as you remember to unroot before bringing it in for service, no one will be the wiser, so don't let that deter you. for the second part of your question, you could start here:

    Welcome!

Rooting does void the warranty. There are things that can be done to get

your device back to normal if need be. Is there certain things you want to

    do after root?

I'd like to customize appearance and themes etc... but mainly I like the idea of being able to rid the phone of the bloat apps that stock users are bogged down with. And to free up the speed etc...
Thanks for the link, brewcrewwheels... excellent noobie resource!

I hear you there. There is pretty much 2 ways about doing so after root.

-One...you get a paid app called Titanium Backup. This app allows you to

freeze apps without deleting them so you can defrost them later for use.

-Two...you can get another paid app called Root Explorer and rename the

apk's (which are the app file names) from .apk to .bak and then rename

them back if you want later.

Start here for bloatware>>>[HOW TO] Remove bloatware

I just wanted to chime in and say that renaming or freezing the bloatware is the best way to go. Uninstalling them can cause A LOT of issues. I saw one user who accidently deleted the entire /system folder.
