How to root Droid x? Please help

I am not new to rooting but i know it was alot more simpler on the D1. I heard that there was somthing that makes the x harder to root. So how would i root my phone running 2.2 and version.2.3.15.mb810.verizon.en.us . Dont tell me that i should leave the phone stock please i have had a taste of rooting and i will not go back to stock.

    Using z4root(1.30) or universalandroot(beta5) I think would.

I wouldn't say its "harder to root", I think its easier actually. Just can't change the kernel to overclock but, there's an app for that.
Lets start first by asking what version you're on..? If not already on 2.3.340, I'd recommend updating before rooting.

Good! Didn't want you to root then get bugged right away to update, you know?
Turn on USB Debugging in Settings > Applications. Open z4root and run the Permanent Root command. If it hangs (longer than say 2 minutes), hit home and reboot then try again.
