what's going on with gmail?

my emails used to be perfectly synchronized but for about 3 days now, I have to click sync to get my new emails. I don't remember making so any changes to my settings. Any ideas? I wonder if its a gmail problem and not my settings. hotmail is the same. sync is on.

funny, I got instant notification to your reply. seems to be random.

My Gmail will show that I have New Messages in my inbox but I can't see them until I click the bottom left button, click on Labels, then inbox and refresh. Then they finally come in. Underneath inbox in the Labels tab, it says "Sync 4 days".

I am having a problem with Gmail today as well. I sent a bunch of emails from my phone using Gmail. Later I talked to one of the people I sent emails to and she said she did no receive any from me. I checked my Gmail folders and I had 8 emails in my outbox. Tests show that I can receive emails but I cannot send them.

I had been fooling around with different kernels this morning and thought that may be the reason why. I reverted back to a nandroid backup from a couple of days ago and still cannot send emails. Don't know what to do since restoring to a later date did nothing to fix the problem.
