    Too many apps running.

I'll use the app killer, then text like 2 people back, hit the app killer and like 7 apps are running, whats the deal?

So from what i read, the phone basically kills apps like the task killer would on its own when they are not in use? I have the Advanced Task Killer which is a one touch as well. When do you use yours? and will not using it slow other things down such as texting etc..

    I don't have one installed.

The only real use for a task killer is if you get an unresponsive app (so the task killer comes in handy to kill that ONE app) or if you are done with an app (ie a game or something) that doesn't have an 'exit' or 'close' option.

system apps will restart and close on their own. it's by design.

try a day or two with no task killer (at least turn off 'auto-kill') and don't worry about what opens up.

determine for yourself. some people see a great increase, others swear by a task killer.... personal experience is best.

whoa..... we may have found what's slowing you down.

remove the anti-virus. trust me. it's not needed and it will only slow down your device. it will run constantly in the background and it just adds another (un-needed) process on top of everything you do on your device.

give that a shot and see how your device runs.

it's bloatware on the X... apparently VZW added more bloatware in the 2.2 update.

Your option to stop the apps you don't have set up is to root and rename the 'bloat' apps.

btw.... i bet you'll see a speed increase without that anti-virus

the apps will always open on their own, but i understand how you are concerned about apps you don't even have set up 'opening'.
rooting and renaming is the only option (well safe one anyway)

you can remove bloatware, but I would highly suggest against it.
