If you can try to be patient, I am sure someone out there is working on making it easier on us. Until then, we just have to sadly rely on the hard method.... which most people don't even want to consider and rightfully so.

Patience is a fleeting thing. Android has been on the market for over a year and we only have partially successful third party programs. I too will be looking at the new WM7 phones when they hit the market this winter.

WE SHOULD NOT HAVE TO GIVE GOOGLE OUR INFO FOR OUR PHONES TO SYNC WITH OUTLOOK!!!

It is a badly-veiled attempt by Google to usurp some market-share and proclaim that X amount of users have now switched to gmail when the truth is that X amount of users have been stabbed in the back by GOOGLE AND HAD GMAIL FORCE-FED!!!

    RE-DAMN-DICULOUS!

btw "So simple my with no[t] only did it....." Are you calling your WIFE an idiot or implying that EVEN A 'WOMAN' can figure out how to do this? Actually, you were showing your own arrogance and ignorance with that statement.

FYI: sync is spelled S-Y-N-C (no 'H' at the end)
Looking to me like droidxie is needing the stick warning about the way people talk to each other in this forum. This entire post is completely out of line!!!

    Hello All,

We are all here to help each other.

So personal attacks are obviously unacceptable, and only serve to sidetrack the topic.

With that said, let's all kiss and make up so that we can get back on topic...

Because I want a new DroidX that syncs with Outlook via the USB port...

PS Do you think anyone from Google actually monitors this forum?
    Do you think they care?

Well, he's not going to be bothering us for a long time, before I got wind of this apparently an admin did and he's gone on permanent leave of absence.

I do want to say though that my wife for the record is a very intelligent person specially when it comes to computers and my wording in that paragraph was poor. What happened was I asked her if she had any issues syncing outlook and I asked her how she diid it. She said "I followed the directions, it was easy." I then said I have a lot of people saying they have a tough time figuring it out and she simply said she couldn't understand why.

My wife happens to be a consultant for a large computer firm. If anything she is a heck of a lot smarter then I am.

    Hi,

The point here is that we all know that you can sync to Outlook using Google's preferred method, but that's not what we want to do or are asking for.

So just to be clear, these are two separate issues.

What we want is to be able to sync to Outlook via a USB port directly, circumventing Google entirely.

We don't want to rely on G-mail, or uploading our calendar to the web, etc.

Maybe no one that can influence the powers to be monitor these forums, which means that we are all just having a nice conversation and nothing will come of it??

    I hope not :-)

I really like this phone, and I use google for a lot of things but...I do certain scheduling tasks at work that I don't think my company would like out in the ether. Is there a calendar I can use that won't automatically sync the information with google?

A search of the market shows there are all kinds of calendars available, but I'm not sure which one wouldn't sync with Google Calendar. You may have to try a little experimenting or go ahead and post this question in the apps area.

Maybe it's already been mentioned, but Missing Sync for Outlook, doesn't sync the Outlook Calendar to GCalendar to DroidX, it's a direct sync. I just took a look at my GCalendar and it's empty.
