If you try to mod your phone, it will brick itself for you.

I never heard of eFuse until I read a couple of articles at another website.

That is a good question, but I would suspect that it can not be. If it could, then obviously there is a way to override it.

Other than a potential way to crack it, even if it could be done via a OTA, it won't matter. Motorola is not going to change their policy.

As someone that was looking to switch to Verizon for the Droid X this issue is slowing that process. not certain how often I would want to root the phone , but Im not fond of being stuck on an older OS when Motorola decides to stop updating the device.

If I do switch and dont get the X , i would be loking at the Droid for close to the same price as the new phone

There is nothing wrong with the original Droid.
It's quite possibly the best device on the market today all things considered.

from what i understand, it is a hardware component, not software. eFuse is put directly on the computer chip in the phone. but i did read that if the eFuse is tripped, it can be reversed. But i'm not too sure.
