WiFi Hotspot

Ok i have a question bout the $20/mth fee. I have a samsung omnia and i can use it as a wifi hotspot free. i do it all the time for my ipod touch and laptop. Now how can verizon charge us a fee just to use this on the X?

To get as much of your money as they can lol but I'm sure once the dx is rooted you can use the wireless tether for root users app.

I understand that but my omnia is Verizon... lol i dont know just struck me as odd.
