Both the X and X2 have a locked and encrypted bootloader. Efuse is supposedly part of that encryption.

Can't believe this is still alive. Ask around on the rom forums, you'll see this is a trivial issue at best. It's virtually impossible to brick a DX, if you know how to sbf, you can fix 99% of anything you might screw up. Unless you're a developer, you're never gonna get close enough to doing anything to cause some efuse problem.
The bootloader is locked yes, but you can still flash custom roms till your hearts content. Just do research on here and other forums so you know what you're doing.
