Tried z4, now oneclickroot on the pc wont work keeps freezing. Any modern techniques? I am trying to just get a quick root on friends phone but idk about how to do this on the x.

I had a similar problem trying to root my commando at work. I think I tried everything but got nowhere. I tried again on my laptop when I got home. It worked perfectly. My only guess is that one computer had a different setting, or maybe reboot after loading onto the computer.

z4 worked fine for me, it does take a while so be patient... Other than that, I haven't rooted in a long time! No need to root again after you already have root access!

What is the system version on the dx your trying to root? Go in settings then press about phone and see what your system version is. Z4root only works on froyo. If your system version is 4.5.605 or 4.5.602 your on gingerbread and need to use the d3 one click root found here http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/gi...links-all.html there's also a video in the link to show you how.

Last night was crazy. ran into an old friend.. I think i rooted it in my drunk state by trying the oneclick root on a third computer. wild i know, but i think the first two were 64 bit OS. Z4 kept freezing to so no luck their. His was the newest update i believe...and Im happy to see i got lots of replys but i must of forgot about this thread and kept trying other options. I cant remember if i was totally successful or not. Ill have to postpone this thread until i get the phone again and be able to see what i did. I cant remember much . I definetly need help with it, the D1 is my game not the X. Anybody know if one of the tethers will work on it? id install wireless tether on my d1 ut does that work with the x as well?

If your friends dx is on the newest update then it's on gingerbread 4.5.605 and yes he can wireless tether if you install the tether patch on his phone using Droid 2 bootstrap to install it. Here's a link to the patch http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/gi...-one-zips.html
