    Hi guys,
    I'm not sure of this is possible but is there a way to customize the boot animation with added sound effects, without rooting?

    Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    No, you arent able to get to the right system folders without rooting

    Go to settings/about phone/system version. That's your starting point. Depending on your version is what way to root.

    Versions .595 602 and 605 of gingerbread are rootable with the d3 root tool. I rooted my .602. If u r on froyo anything, z4 root is the apk u use on your phone.

    I'll look around for the d3 root tool.
    Im just hoping not to brick my phone.
    Also, when a phone is rooted, I can no longer install system updates right?
