I believe that this would require USB Host mode which the stock Droid 3 cannot do. Ice Cream Sandwich, the next Android version, supposedly will have this feature. Also, non-stock OS may have this implemented.
Do you like uninstallable bloatware?
It takes about 5 minutes to complain and it's kinda fun. Let's not be complacent!

Something like this might work Amazon.com: USB A 2.0 female to Micro USB B male Cable Adapter: Electronics
But like I said, you might need USB host mode implemented to supply power to something that you plug in. I could be wrong about this, but I think that's how USB works.
