Try downloading OSMonitor from the market. Open it, wait a few secs. and see what's eating up your CPU. You can change the sort order to load % in settings. Once you find out what it is, you can kill it. Are you on a custom ROM or stock GB?
Thx, ill try it. I'm on stock gb. I didn't have this problem before.

if you're in a weak signal area, or have wifi turned on, you could be using up a lot of batt searching for signal. in addition to what the other person suggested, try *228 to update your roaming towers.
Thank you everyone for all your help and suggestions.
I might have to do factory reset. It drains pretty fast. In four hours its drained. One time the battery status looked okay, green status but right after responding to one text, it turned yellow, 20% left, right after I sent the reply.
Any thoughts on juice defender?

Do launcher themes drain batteries or using too many screens?

themes really don't, nor do the number of screens (unless you use the extra screens to run a bunch of widgets).
before doing a factory reset, lemme ask a question: how old is your battery?? i see you have a DX, which has been out for a while. and, these batteries are only designed to last 6-8 months or so. if you've had it for that long or longer, you should probably get a new one. you can get them on amazon for just a few bucks.
try conditioning the battery. what i mean is charge it full, then let it run itself down to the point that it warns you to plug it in and charge it all the way full again with it being off that is. Do that like three or four times a year and maybe it'll last longer.
I had a battery problem too when i upgraded to the gingerbread OTA. with a full charge, four hours later it was telling me to charge already. I ended up going back to Froyo.
