    Unhappy with many roms

I just went through almost all the roms and I haven't been satisified with battery life and speed. Has any one compiled a plain aosp build for the x with no customizations? Cause if it hasn't been done I am. Feedback is wanted

CM4DX is the closest you're going to get, and I'd have jumped to that ship forever ago but it doesn't support HDMI, and it didn't support Bluetooth or the FM Radio until recently. I'm not sure what else still doesn't work with it, but it is coming along quite nicely, IMO.

I just wish that there was an easy way to install ROMs. I don't like the idea of SBF'ing back to Froyo, then rooting, then installing Bootstrap, then installing various files and things... Too many steps, opening up more opportunities to have something go wrong or brick the phone.

If there were simple installs, like being able to download a ZIP file to the SD card and just installing it from an OTA build of GB, using the stock recovery console, I would be all into that.

But I am not gonna jump through a lot of hoops and risk my phone just to have some flashy icons and a couple tweaks. I don't need bragging rights that badly... LOL

If you are on Froyo and rooted, you can install CM7, SSX, Liquid, and MIUI without sbf. Just wipe data, cache and dalvik cache and flash.

If you are on pre rooted GB, you can flash ROMs like Apex 2.0, Liberty, Darkslide,ZombieStomped and other .596 based ROMs without sbf also.

Going through the SBF process isn't dangerous unless your cat likes to chew through the USB cable you're using during the process.

Personally I do it every time I install a new ROM, just to make sure everything is fresh.

Still, I agree that it would be nice to have a much easier way to flash a new ROM. If only they could all be SBF files. Imagine SBFing directly to LGB 0.9. That would be cool.

I definitely recommend CM7. But Apex is a plain AOSP ROM based off of .596 GB. It has phenomenal battery life and is probably the fastest out of all the GB based ROMs.

I would definitely try CM7. Only thing is HDMI and that's because it needs Blur to work.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised over Liberty. Its a great ROM, don't get me wrong, but there is no comparison to a from source AOSP ROM.

You must be on Froyo. Root and install D2 bootstrap. Download the latest Nightly, Gapps and the All in one fix.

Use D2 bootstrap to boot into recovery and wipe data, cache and dalvik cache. Then install the nightly, the Gapps and the All in one zip. Then reboot. Its pretty easy and I can get the links for you if you want.

Yeah honestly listen to Brad. Cm based roms are the shiz. Plus you can flash betweeen them without having to sbf. I jump between liquid and cm pretty often just to check out new builds, features, etc.

And if you're not down with them or the slightly lacking battery life, youre on froyo so you could always make the jump to a prerooted gb with just a zip file.
