Not sure what to/how to do to Droid X.

I was thinking of rooting phone but I now see that Gingerbread is available. If I get GB, are there hacks and roms available? How do I do it? How do I make sure my phone doesn't end up broken. Pls help. Thanks

There is no root for gingerbread yet that I know of. But there is a way to root Froyo and install gingerbread manually and retain root.

Theres always time to learn plus there are a ton of videos about doing this stuff

Anyways back to the topic...
Team Black Hat just released gb for dx and d2 not too long ago. You choose the rooted or just the regular gb. There are ROMs for their leaked gb ZombieStomp and Liberty are the 2 I've used. Personally both are amazing I noticed that zombie did drain my battery a little faster but nothing a little underclocking couldn't fix.

Yes there is always time to learn! That's the one thing alot ppl don't do take the time to learn what to do incase you have a problem and how to fix it.

There is a root. P3 got a root for the official verizon gb which is .256

@op.liberty rom is the most stable rom out there. If you go to the liberty rom subforum, there should be instructions on how to do it.

I'd have to agree with that I was running the Liberty ROM back on froyo and it was pretty much the ROM that won me over. And still is a very stable ROM so far except for the little calender issue but everything else is SOLID.

Thanks guys for ur help. I will check into that site. But the bottom line is that if u do things the right way, by backing up a flash image of ur droid, then even if I mess something up... I can always restore it?
