    battery and rooting

I know nothing about rooting and I'm trying to decide if it would be a good idea. It seems like my battery is terrible and I'm wondering if rooting my phone would help this. What is the downside to rooting your phone?

Downside is it voids your warranty but its easily reversible. If you root you could underclock or undervolt to save battery.
