    Hello all

I've been a forum member for a short time and have spent a week or 2 searching these forums among other forums to find out all i can about tweaking my droidX.
Thank you all for all the posts and videos about roms, rooting, themes, and all kinds of helpful info.
My question is about roms and themes mostly.. i assume when i update the rom, i need to do a full factory reset first, before installing the new one.
but do i need to do that also for themes?
    thank you

Changing a theme will generally not require a factory reset unless specified. Sometimes you can also get away with not resetting the phone when upgrading one rom from say 1.1 to 1.2 but the developer will usually specify.

The reason to do a backup is just in case I don't like the theme right or buggar my phone? Will a new theme wipe out my dl'ed apps, contacts and such also?

New theme wont touch apps. And yes backups are only for restoring an old setup if something goes wrong KR you don't like your current setup.
