Proximity awareness--what's wrong with my face?

Actually it's my wife having the problem (with the phone, not with my face.)

When she uses the phone, the screen constantly wakes up instead of staying off and locked while she's on the call, so she's constantly making accidental button presses. I don't have the problem myself, even on the same phone.

She must be blocking a sensor because of the way she holds it. Anyone have any ideas?

Problem for others previously was if the user has long hair or sideburns that interfere with the way the proximity sensor works. If your wife has long hair, she might try sweeping it back behind/over her ear when using the phone.
    a little obsessive...

    mmmm

Opps ... Sorry ... I thought I was on the wrong forum for a minute.

The sensor is just to the right of the ear speaker.

Some apps will mess with the sensor as well.

Most women will hold Touchscreen phones away from their face to avoid getting makeup on the screen, but you can't do that with a Droid.

That and the hair issue is probably your situation.
