    DroidX and Gmail

Is there a way to use the Copy and Paste functions of Gmail, as Gmail is implemented in the DroidX? It's very limiting not to have that ability. I'm used to using Copy and Pasta when I use Gmail on my computers, but I haven't figured out how to use them on the Droid.

Have you tried a long press (press and hold) which will open a new window and select copy/cut/paste. ?

not until copy/paste is implemented through out the UI....which will be on Gingerbread i believe.

Thanks to all of you for your replies.

"long press" doesn't work (to Select text from and emai, for example) on my DroidX - but "Menu/More/Select Text" results in a message that the text has been copied to the clipboard. That's fine as far as it goes, but I still can't fins a way to Copy that text into another document. How is that done?

I had no idea what "Gingerbread" is, until I Googled it and found that it's Android 2.3. The release date is apparently unknown despite rumors that it would be released Dec 6 2010. The site "shaswatpatel.com" states that Gingerbread will only be available to "higher end" Android users, and that cell phone users will have to stay with Android 2.2 - so if Copy/Paste and similar functions are only available in Android 2.3, maybe cell phone users are stuck without these functions??? Maybe Android 2.3 will be available on new phones running G4, some time in 2011?

after you select the text, its automatically copied. just go to where you want to paste it, hold down on the area and select paste.

Thanks to all of you who replied. I have it now, both Copy and Paste. I don't think I would ever have stumbled on that by myself.

Happy holidays and a safe, happy 2011 to all -
