    Question Understanding the language

OK, I dont understand the lingo.

First, ME, I have 40 years programming experience and computer design experience. But about Cell Phones, I know nothing.

Second, my phone,I have a DX that I have rooted (Z4root), overclocked (Droid 2/x), teathered, and loaded the JRummy ROM using Clockwork Bootstrap. I did all these by just following instructions but not really understanding what I was doing.

Now I would like to experiment with some more ROMs, but I keep running into terms that worry me when the text associated with the term says scary things like...."this might brick your phone". I know what brick means and it aint good so I really need to know what,

    sbf
    leak
    and 2.3.320

mean. I am sure there are others, but for now these three would help. Where can I find info on these? I did a search on sbf and SBF and neither one returned any results.

No worries, the lingo can be confusing at times. One of the mods has a great link in his signature but I can't remember exactly which one. I'm leaning towards furbearingmammal and Abe21599 though.
A .sbf is a full software file.
A "leak" is often an update that we have gotten hold of before its actual release (if it gets released at all).
2.3.320 is an Android Version number. Like how Froyo on the D1 (Droid 1) was 2.2 and now 2.2.1.
    Hope this helps!

The sbf file is the file needed to flash a rom to a Motorola device using the program RSD Lite. Oftentimes you would flash an sbf file to recover from a "semi" bricked device, or to return the device to stock "out of the box" condition.

Here is an old guide for the original Droid, but reading it will give you a better understanding of how RSD Lite and the sbf file(s) are used.

SBF to root and to unroot

Very good, thats approximately how I got JRummy 1.0 installed but used Bootstrap instead.

But out of curiosity, just what does SBF stand for? Some Big File?
