    quick question about updating

    i recently rooted my DX and was wondering how i would update the software. if i try updating will it work or brick my phone etc.
    system version verizon.2.3.20.MB810verizon.en.US
    android version 2.2.1
    Build number rubix focused 1.8.6
    thanks im a total noob when it comes to this

    A rooted phone will update but a rommed phone will not. Make a clean backup and revert to that or wait until your rom dev updates their software

    If your phone is bricked read this:
    Complete Droid X .sbf Flashing Tutorial

    Get back to stock:
    Stock "M" Boot Image for Droid X
    Change "Verizon Wireless" Display Text on Your Droid X
    maderstcok 2.3.340 OTA upate.zip

    Thus may be answered already but just want to make sure. I am currently running Chevy SSX with Black Glass. Does this men the ota will not go through? I like where I am at and do not want to be forced back to square 1.

    It won't update. You'll need to.sbf flash or restore a clean backup

    What if I do not want the update and just want to wait for the dev to update my rom. Will the ota brick my phone if I do not sbf?

    Another scenario...

    Rooted and deodexed. Few bloatware items renamed.

    No rom or theme installed....

    At 2.3.15 - was there when I got the phone.

    Something I should do for the update? Will it update?
