    custom icons

is it possible do download/change/use a non-default set of icons without using a desktop replacement tool like aHome or dxTop? I like the default 3-desktop setup because I use folders to organize my icons - I'd rather tap twice to get to an app than have to swipe and tap to get to another screen - but I'd like to replace the folder icons with something a little more custom. Any suggestions?

    2 Things:

Try Pandahome. You change every single icon see below

If you don't want to use that then you can try Bettercut it allows you change icons, but I don't think they look good when changed...

If you change an icon with bettercut it looks great, but I guess that all depends on the quality of your images. I've used some of my mac icons to replace the icons on my droid and they look fantastic!

well.. they are off set when you change them. At least they did using my personal icons and dl'd third party icons. Maybe it just depends on the size.

They are offset when you use icons that are the wrong size. I used icons of size 128x128 and they came out perfect. Look at the ebuddy and browser icons I have in the above pic. Those are icons from my mac I converted to png and set as custom icons on the droid.

The clock/weather widget is the non-free version of the weather widgets. at $1.50 I would say it's worth it, but that's me. You can find it by searching for "weather donate" in the market.

Thank you for the suggestions - I didn't know about pandahome or bettercut. I guess my original question was really more in the spirit of avoiding all desktop replacements - even though none are expensive i was hoping for a free solution that i could get at through the phone's existing system.

Pandahome is free as are the icons you can download, Bettercut is not free however.

False. I am not using weather donate, though I have it. The weather/clock widget on my screen shot is beautiful widgets.

How's the graphic quality (pixelation) for bettercut? I tried panda, but the graphic quality wasn't good.
